Cub Scout Pack 525 of Tracy

The BSA and Pack 525 take the protection of our children very seriously. Pack 525 requires every Cub Scout parent to take the BSA Youth Protection Training (YPT) online at http://my.scouting.org. The course will take about 45 minutes to complete. You do not have to be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America to take YPT. To complete YPT training, go to http://my.scouting.org and log into your existing account or create a new account. Upon completion, print or email your completion certificate and submit it to Committee Chair.

As part of the BSA, we adhere to the official Guide to Safe Scouting regulations that provide direction in maintaining a safe Scouting experience for all Scouting activities. The policy that has the most noticeable impact on the Cub Scout level is that of two- deep leadership. Youth protection policies require that all group activities involving Cub Scouts maintain the presence of at least two registered adult leaders. Youth Protection Training is valid for two years from the date of completion.

New Camping Policies Effective September 1, 2023: Cub Scout parents or legal guardians taking part in an overnight Cub Scout program with their own child or legal ward are not required to register as leaders. All adults must review the “How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide” that can be found in the front of each Cub Scout Handbook. In addition, the parent or legal guardian must be accompanied by a registered leader at any time they are with youth members other than their own child/ward. All other overnight adults must be currently registered in an adult fee required position.
